GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Task Force
The
GLBT Youth In Iowa Schools Task Force’s
mission is to increase understanding in local school districts and communities
about GLBT students, increase awareness and address the inequities regarding
safety of GLBT students in Iowa, and improve school climate in order to increase
the personal safety, mental health, and achievement levels of GLBT students.
EYCHANER FOUNDATION
The Eychaner Foundation sponsors Iowa's LGBT Scholarship honoring Matthew Shepard which pays tuition, books, and fees at one of Iowa's three state
universities: Iowa State University, the University of Iowa or the University of Northern Iowa. Each scholarship is renewable annualy for up
to four years upon evidence of academic progress, continued service to the LGBT community and an interview with the scholarship community.

Provides a 24-hour hotline, counseling, information on legal options,
safety informati
on and shelter to persons in abusive relationships. All services are free
and confidential.

networking opportunities for GLBT folks and friends with a range of interests,
is in full swing. Connections offers it all (a nature group, a
spiritual group, a chess group, a movie night group, a cooking group, and a

Lesbian Reading Group, Iowa City
Starting in Sept. 2007. Meets every three weeks on Thursday nights at 7:00
at the Women's Resource and Action Center of the University of Iowa in Iowa
City. Members choose books (mostly lesbian fiction, but anything
goes!) as a group the first night and meet to discuss them over the semester. Members
must pre-register through the WRAC's website: http://www.uiowa.edu/~wrac/
or by phone: (319) 335-1486 Space is limited. Members
provide their own copies of the books.
